URISA Chapter Expands to Include South Carolina!

The Carolina Chapter (www.CarolinaURISA.org) is dedicated to providing educational and professional opportunities for our members, and to applying technology to the management of our communities and state.  URISA is a non-profit association of professionals using information technology to solve problems in planning, public works, the environment, emergency services, utilities and throughout state and local governments.  URISA is considered to be the premier organization for the use and integration of spatial information technology to improve the quality of life in urban and regional environments.  Through its international, national and local chapter operations, URISA serves nearly 7,000 professionals worldwide.  We also have members from the universities and from the private sector.  Student membership are available, as well as Corporate Memberships for private sector GIS and IT vendors and service providers.

The Carolina Chapter of URISA is nationally recognized as one of the most active and successful chapters in the United States and Canada.  NC URISA holds a fall meeting every year that provides informational seminars and opportunities to network, as well as some vendor demonstrations.  We generally manage to have some great entertainment as well.  Carolina URISA is also a proud co-sponsor of the North Carolina GIS Conference, held every other year at the Benton Convention Center in Winston-Salem, NC.  We also sponsor the Herb Stout award and student scholarship awards.  The North Carolina GIS Conference is one of the nation's finest GIS Conferences and is always on the cutting edge of technology.
